Yes he did have underlying health problems.
My closest friend has already told me she can't be my SF "buddy" because her baby son is chronically ill (can be critical) and she doesn't want to risk exposure to SF on account of him (which is totally understandable). Regarding the latest developments RE changes in treatment policy: As the UK print media was saying "We're all gonna die" within 3 days of the first case being confirmed, I'm sure they will have a field day with the new developments once a headline about Michael Jackson is no longer a sure seller. Apparently 'Harry Potter' actor Rupert Grint caught SF:- SOURCE: www.yahoo.co.uk Potter actor gets swine flu in Britain: publicistActor Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has contracted swine flu, his publicist said Saturday, three days before the latest Potter blockbuster premieres in London. Skip related content Grint took several days off filming the next movie in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", but is still expected to join co-stars on the red carpet for the launch of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Tuesday. "It has just been confirmed that Rupert Grint has taken a few days out of filming due to a mild bout of swine flu," his publicist said in a statement. "He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members at the junket and premieres this week and will then return to filming directly afterwards." She added that filming was not disrupted by the 20-year-old's absence. "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" opens in most of Europe on July 15 and in the United States and Japan two days later. |

Current Confirmed UK Cases: Nearly 7500
SOURCE: www.yahoo.co.uk People urged to remain calm after swine flu deaths
People were urged not to panic on Tuesday as two children and a man died after contracting swine flu, although
all had pre-existing health conditions. Skip related

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who have tragically passed away. This is an incredibly sad time as families come to terms with their loss," MP Shahid Malik told the Press Association. "It is also important to stress that for most people swine flu has been a mild illness that has passed in a few days and there is absolutely no need to panic," he added. The deaths of a man and a child from West Yorkshire and a nine-year-old child from London on Monday took the death toll from the virus in the country to seven. All had "underlying health issues", health officials said, without giving details of their conditions. England's chief medical officer has said people with breathing problems and obese people are at high risk. Health officials said they could not confirm whether swine flu or the pre-existing condition was the cause of death in either case in West Yorkshire. Speaking about the child, a spokesman said: "At this stage, we have no confirmation whether or not swine flu was the cause of death." In London, the National Health Service (NHS) said the nine-year-old child, whose gender was not identified, also had "serious underlying health problems". "Once again, we wish to take this opportunity to remind the public that for most people this is a minor illness and that they should start to feel better after a few days without needing to go to their GP or A&E, a NHS spokesman said. "However, some people may be more susceptible to the virus. If you have flu-like symptoms, it's important that you talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, very young, over-65 or have long-term conditions such as asthma or diabetes," he added. The government warned last week that Britain could soon face more than 100,000 daily cases of swine flu if the current rate of infection is maintained. Authorities have abandoned efforts to contain the virus, given the high number of cases, and have switched to focusing on treating infected people who fall into a high-risk group. People who present the symptoms of swine flu are now given antiviral drugs without laboratory testing to confirm the presence of the virus. Britain already has Europe's highest number of reported cases with nearly 7,500. Latest figures released on Monday by the World Health Organization showed that swine flu had now affected almost 95,000 people in
more than 130 countries and territories.

I don't see what panic will do. It wont stop anyone catching it. If you come into contact with the illness panic is not going to stop you contracting it.

I've got Asthma but am more concerned for my Dad who is nearly 75 and has heart and lung problems. He is more bothered about my possible health risks with
SF than his own, so I guess it goes both ways. My response is I'm young and reasonably fit so I would be ok
The official counting of local SF cases has stopped now as patients are being diagnosed by their GP's rather than from a blood test. Confirmed UK Case Total: 9718 Have just seen this report online:- SOURCE: www.bbc.co.uk

We've had a letter from the school, it's now in two local primary schools. Really it's only a matter of time before it hits J's school and they
have cancelled the closure plan on government advice.

I mentioned to Em on facebook that there were 10 reported cases here in my town (and it's a relatively smallish town). So when I caught a cold/flu bug I
was only a bit worried that it was the swine flu. Never went to the Doctors and I'm feeling much better. *touch wood*
Though I do have to say, traveling on a plane and having a coughing fit isn't a great thing. Loads of nasty looks and the person in front of me kept looking over her shoulder at me and finally put on a mask! *lol* Yup, I knew I'd have enough knee room, there was no way she'd put her chair back.

My friend and her already seriously chronically ill baby both possibly have SF. Her fiance may have had it and recovered. A blood test was done on the baby,
results not back yet.
Although local cases are no longer being counted, that friend ^^ who has been into the local hospital with her baby was told by Doctors that SF is "rife" in our local towns. Heard today about the first SF death where there were no underlying health problems. RIP. SOURCE: www.bbc.co.uk

It's now in J's school so that didn't take long to spread. One of the families has a newborn at home and is refusing to send their child into
school in case he catches it. I don't think it's avoidable at this stage and at some point J is likely to catch it. Schools are incredible for
spreading disease/illness as the children are not really good with hygiene and share everything.

dammit beat me to it J :P was gunna post about my local hospital, give it a few days and im sure all us locals will know who actually died frmo the vening echo
etc but im glad the family have had their request okayed.
my home town of basildump has the first 'healthy' death... we shall see, that place is disgusting it wouldnt shock me if they did have something else first or if they contracted something else in the hospital. my bosses daughter possibly has it... flew back from Mexico 4 days ago and started feeling real rough 2 days ago.... i love how my company has turned around and said abotu how there is expectation of everyone contracting it by the end of the year..... yea make us feel real positive when the first apparant healthy death is 2 mins up the road.
